Lesson 1: Things before start

Welcome friends for World of RC cars. In this lesson I will explain about few basic needs of RC world. Before going to start this amazing work just make sure that you are equipped with following things.
  • A team of minimum 4 and maximum of 6 members preferably all from dept of Mechanical engineering or related branch. Decide among yourself who will be the remote operator of the car and do not change him for different races else it will ruin your car as well as your participation in event.
  • Be ready with minimum amount of INR 15k or more else find any sponsor. Usually for RC cars you will find less or no sponsors, but a good and planned search will get one. You can find them in your collage may be your professor or collage itself, a local vendor such as a garage owner etc or approach company with reference of your relatives and negotiate for it. In all cases last is one is best and easy.
  • Properly plan your work and don't mingle it, with your collage activities else it will create unwanted nuisance among your teammates.
  • Search for proper workshops apart from your collage workshop. Because in holidays you can work from there and it must be equipped at least with drilling machine and profile cutter.
So following are different types of tool kits you must have to procure.
  • The standard took a kit that is usually available at your local hardware store. As shown below, that contains proper set of Screwdrivers, spanners and Allen keys. And don't go for RC car website they are charging heavy amount of money for tools and you will need only with few of them.
Simple tool kit.

  • Be equip with a handy drill machine with bits as per car standards or you will come to know when you have a specific engines, This is very helpful tool and will need any time even while you are in tournaments.

  • Purchase a trolley like hand bag to carry your car.

  • Purchase at least 12 rechargeable pen cell batteries AA size, along with chargers because the remote controllers are really hungry for power.

You have to follow these below mentioned steps in order to participate in the event.
  • Look for a collage websites or news papers,  for ads about such events.
  • Prepare a short abstract of your project ,along with it you have to submit photo graphs of your car fabrications. So don't forget to take photographs of your work, in some cases they will ask for the video of your working car.
  • And submit above stated materials and wait for approvals and in most cases you will get approval.
In most of the events organizers ask participants to make following items.
  • The chassis.
  • Steering Mechanisms.
  • Support for suspensions or entire suspension system.
  • Car body.
  • In rare cases ball joints.
And following things can be made, in order to assure safety of the car.
  • Front bumpers or guards.
  • Protection guards for sides of car especially for fuel tanks, engine and servo motors.
Below are the enhancements that can be implemented to improve its performance on race track.
  • Anti lock braking system.
  • Microprocessor controlled fuel system.
  • Engine Cooling systems.
  • Ultra smooth steering system.
Many more and sky is the limit. Above mentioned enhancements can also be your collage final year projects, if you are really interested.

The following parts are usually allowed to buy directly from market.
  • The engine.
  • The remote controller kits.
  • Wheels (both reams and tires).
  • Suspensions.
  • Fuel box.
  • Latex fuel pipes.
  • Connecting shafts.
  • Braking system.
  • Front and Rear differential.
  • Gears.
  • Wheel Hubs etc.
I hope this will definitely help those enthusiastic beginners to build their own team and to collect needed materials to start their preparation for upcoming races. If you have any doubts then don’t hesitate to mail me at bpr890@gmail.com.

RC Car lessons for Beginners.

Prologue Hello friends! This is Bharatesh Regoudar from Nagpur, India. I am here to help my friends, who are still beginners in the field of RC cars. Regarding myself, I am an engineering student graduated in the field of Information science, and definitely many of you must be thinking that, what this software geek doing in the field of mechanicals? That includes engines, pistons, crankshafts, chassis etc. Yes I am here because it is my hobby and passion. And I would like to thanks to my sponsors who lend their helping hand for making this happen and my friends Shreejit, Bharatesh A and Tejas, college staff and local vendors for helping me to build the car. Remote controlled cars!!! By the instance when I first heard this word I am totally amazed and puzzled about how to start the process of build such wonders. But we managed to make one and participated in about 4 races across India i.e. IITM Chennai, IITB Mumbai, NITK Surthakal, NIT Warangal. In IITB i
